Flibbles Wibble is coming at you live from a slightly chilling Leicester, where we are awaiting the opening of the refurbished KRCS Apple Store. The store is scheduled to open at 11:30am with goodies bags given out to the first 50 people to have their photograph taken with Ricky Tomlinson – of ‘The Royale Family’ fame.

08:19am – I’ve taken my place in the small queue of 7 people, making number 8. It looks like my plan of getting here earlier worked – but will it pay off? Only time will tell. From the look of things so far the people here don’t appear to be Mac fans, or even fans of Ricky. Most likely they are here to blag the free stuff (and with the potential for a free iPod in the bag, who blames them).

11:30am – The time has come. Those lucky enough to have been waiting since this morning were given passes earlier on so they could ‘jump the queue’. I’ve met Ricky, had a photo taken and got a goodie bag containing KRCS items, and a distint lack of Apple items – which was mentioned on the website as being there in addition to the KRCS stuff. The mystery prize in my bag was… a pair of Sennheiser CX300 earphones. No iPod for me, but the earphones are welcome. T’was a good day anyway, and the staff at KRCS in Leicester organised it quite well. Was nice to meet ‘Jim Royale’ complete with his stained vest.. nice.
