Windows 7

Word is that a Windows 7 beta could be out and about as early as next month, according to a message on the official MSDN Developer Conference website which states “all attendees will receive a Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD.” As the events will run from December to January, and “attendees at events schedules for December will have DVDs mailed out to them when they become available” it’s pretty safe to expect this to be released next month.

Neither will I. I’ve gone back to XP on this machine as the onboard Intel video is having real bad performance in Ubuntu due to it being GMA900. It seemed like there was absolutely no hardware acceleration. I’m planning on replacing this next year anyway. I’ve got my heart set on a Dell XPS M1530 laptop which should be a perfect system to have as a main machine and portable.

Well I said I wouldn’t, but I’ve gone and installed Windows 7 beta. It’s a lot better than Vista and much faster.
